About the Author: Dr. Jaswant Singh Sachdev, M.D., F.A.A.N., a board certified Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology is a resident of Phoenix, Arizona, U.S.A. Before migrating to United States in 1972, he completed his post-graduate studies in medicine and taught at the Government Medical College, Patiala, (Pb.), India, where he had a bright academic career and was awarded several Gold Medals including one for the "Best Graduate" of the MBBS class of 1967.
A well-known multifaceted community volunteer/leader, he has been a leading member of the Sikh community for over a decade to prepare and serve free dinner to local homeless citizens on monthly basis. In 2004 he was declared the Outstanding Arizona Asian American Citizen for his various services including his work for Sikh awareness.
Besides being a physician of repute, Dr. Sachdev is an author with an interest in Indian diaspora matters. Several of his essays have been published in many ethnic weeklies in U.S. and Canada to high acclaim. His first book, "Square Pegs, Round Holes" dealt with similar issue and was very well received. "One Coin, Two Sides," is a further collection of essays highlighting cultural similarities and dissimilarities between Eastern lifestyle of NRIs in a dominant Western culture.
About The Book: Dr. Jaswant Singh Sachdev, once again, echoes the themes of duality and immigrant-assimilation in his second book, "One Coin, Two Sides." The title is a slight variation of the phrase, "Two sides of the same coin," which refers to closely related features of one idea.
As Dr. Sachdev suggests throughout the book, the process of assimilation ideally involves maintaining the best of one's own culture while adopting select customs of the new country, one's adopted homeland. An immigrant's experience is, thus, like a coin. The beliefs and traditions that the immigrant grew up with in the motherland are minted on the obverse side, while the attitudes and customs that the immigrant adopts in the new homeland are gradually stamped on the reverse side.
How to navigate two cultures, that sometimes conflict, is at the crux of "One Coin, Two Sides." Dr. Sachdev examines lifestyle matters, health concerns, religious practices, and historical events among other topics, to provide readers with not only answers to questions but, on the other side of the coin, with questions to long-held presumptions.
Dr. Sachdev writes about immigrant issues based on his conversations with friends and readers of his articles that have been appearing in local and national ethnic weeklies, as well as from his own life. As a child, Dr. Sachdev and his Sikh family were displaced to East Punjab in India by the partition of 1947. Later, after studying at New York Medical College, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona, to practice medicine and raise his family. The immigrant experience is one that Dr. Sachdev has lived first-hand.
The book he has produced is like a rare coin that shines with priceless insight and uncommon intelligence, and is a valuable addition to Indian subcontinent diaspora literature as well as for those born and raised in the West.

About the Author: MAURIE D. PRESSMAN, M. D. is Emeritus Chairman of Psychiatry, Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia, and Emeritus Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, Temple Medical School. His practice focuses on spiritual psychotherapy and the exploration of the human soul. During a long and prestigious career, Dr. Pressman has studied the potential of the human mind and soul for over forty years, exploring the connections between traditional psychiatry and holistic-spiritual psychotherapy. Interested in the connection between the mind and the body, he has taught Sports Science at the University of Delaware and has pioneered the use of hypnosis and creative visualization work with Olympic ice skaters, helping them to visualize and execute the "perfect performance." He has also done extensive research on death and dying, behavior genetics, and learning disabilities.
About The Book: This is almost a "how-to" as well as a "what it's like up there" book. The splendors of the mind are revealed when we get into a meditative mode, which means to let ourselves go into easy silence. At that point, we begin to vision (and actually experience) the magnificent vistas of the upper mind and its world. Along the way, there are demonstrations and hints as to how to bring yourself to that place in your journey.
After forty years of scientific training and clinical practice, Dr. Pressman has brought forth a book that opens the ceiling for other academicians, scientists and healers who might want to declare their own spiritual base and experiences in the healing arts and sciences.
This is a wonderful book, much in the style of Maslow that points to the presence of spiritual activity in releasing human potential, growth and health. It is rich with description of Dr. Pressman's own spiritual experiences, with case histories of others, and a description of how to release the soul from within. This becomes all the more powerful because of Dr. Pressman's considerable academic credentials.
What is the Supermind? Supermind is the highest level of mind, closest to the Creator. Sri Aurobindo has spoken of the Supermind as God's vast realm. The Supermind is a highly elevated plane of mind and personality, at once within us and around us. It is the locale of goodness and altruism. It is the storehouse of the vast powers of Nature that we contain. It is our potential.
The Supermind is the location of origin, where creation is created and thoughts are thought. Thus, the Supermind is a reflection of the God-Mind. We can achieve this through aspiration, training and exercise in the control of mind. We accomplish this when we teach the personality to surrender to a higher authority, to lay aside its ego and to open to the Divine message. When this is realized, we see more and more of the Higher World(s). We learn what it is to live in these regions. Some of this information is now becoming available to our culture as we learn more about past lives, out-of-body experiences and near-death happenings. These experiences are accompanied by feelings of awe, bliss, beneficence, all of which describe the ambience of the Higher Range, are and what we have learned, we let others stand on our shoulders making their journey easier, their height higher, and their vision wider. We transmit; we radiate our experience

Recipes I Learned at My Mother's Knee and Other Joints
byDon Speen
About the Author: My parents moved from West Virginia before I was born so what that meant was I spent all my summer
vacations visiting my Grandparents, aunts, uncles
and cousins in West (by God) Virginia. I think it
was given that name because of the fertile soil it
possesses. The gardens that were created were
beyond beautiful, originally gardens were what
helped poor people survive but my family took
it to a different art form. You can't imagine how
large the plants grew and how tasty the vegetables
were. It was from these gardens that a number
of these recipes were born. Tomatoes, Peppers,
Zucchini, Cucumbers, you will recognize this in
the recipes. Herbs like Basil, Rosemary, Parsley,
Oregano, were abundant. Like I said earlier, we
monetarily were poor but rich in imagination and
culinary skills.

About the Author: Kaitlyn Gant is the author of Will You Listen? A True Story of Living with PTSD.
Kaitlyn has a Master's Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Psychology. She was previously the CEO of a small, national recruiting company that she and her husband, Antonio, founded over six years ago. During the mid 1990s through 2000, Kaitlyn was often a featured speaker at national conferences on the topics of relocation, recruitment, and retention.
But Kaitlyn is so much more than her professional resume.
For decades, Kaitlyn was able to keep her Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder symptoms in check. She mastered her denial. Kaitlyn solely focused on her career and put it above all else, thus enabling her to avoid her past.
As a child, Kaitlyn, suffered extreme trauma, horror, and abuse from as far back as she can remember until her teenage years. Kaitlyn and the people who know her well realize it was only by the grace of God that she lived to tell this story.
Since she also is diagnosed with Childhood Amnesia, it was easier to keep everything at bay for years. At least the memories were kept at bay … but the feelings, night terrors, and occasional flashbacks were always knocking. Later, when she found peace in her life, the past started to flood her mind, often claiming her will to live. This is when Kaitlyn's journey of reconciliation-with who she was, what happened, and who she is now-began.
Kaitlyn's ultimate goal is to give others a resource during their own battle with depression, PTSD, drug and alcohol abuse, etc., whether they are suffering from it themselves or know someone who is.
She hopes her work will show the importance of simply listening.
About The Book: When Kaitlyn Gant experiences calm and peace for the first time in her life, the devil tells her, "God has dismissed you." From that moment on, a profound darkness blankets Kaitlyn's life and mind for years. Lost memories of past horror and trauma begin to seep in, often through feelings, not images.
This book is a true story of despair, torment and shame. It is about finding faith, laughter and love through extreme fear, depression, terror and hopelessness. It's a story of life. It provides the reader an amazing experience of entering the mind of a truly suffering soul: A soul that is eventually rebuilt even though all prior coping defenses have been stripped away and awful truths are forever exposed.
This gripping story of survival propels the reader into the exploding topic of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It gives hope to others swallowed by the darkness. Her last triumphant words will long remain in the mind of the reader.

About the Author: Lisa Masters is a single mother of two boys diagnosed
with autism. A native of New City, New York, Lisa graduated from The State University of New York at Albany with a major in psychology. She has become an active participant in the Valley with children's charities that benefit children with autism and their families and advocates for the rights of children with disabilities. She lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her two boys, Brandon and Andrew. The Funny Side of Autism has been several years in the making and reflects Lisa's acquired world view that there is humor in everything and that by acknowledging it, we are always better able to cope and actually understand the multiple layers involved in meeting any challenge, especially autism.
About The Book: My goal in writing this book is twofold. For one, I think
it is important to show a side of autism that is hardly, if ever, portrayed; and two, to maintain public awareness by teaching people how children with autism think.
I was going to write a book that would have been titled Autism Sucks, but as I was writing, it became clear that all my old painful feelings were re-surfacing. These negative thoughts were not a true account of it all. Frankly, it started to sound like I needed a pity party, which I don't.
So I changed gears and thought about all the funny moments related to my children's autism. I then invited other parents and caregivers of children with autism to submit their own funny moments. The stories in this book were all generously shared by people who have in some way been affected by autism. As you read, you may notice that some of these stories were sent from people in other countries. We may be many miles apart, but we are all living in the same world of autism.
Raising children with autism is a daily struggle to teach them about the world in ways they can understand-so they can develop social behaviors that are as close to appropriate as possible. This requires the teacher (parent, grandparent, sibling, occupational therapist, physical therapist, speech therapist, educator, doctor, etc.) to get inside the autistic child's mind to try to present things in a way he can absorb and relate to the real world. This is much easier said than done.
As hard and as exhausting as it is, there are moments that catch you off-guard-funny moments that show how sweet and innocent autistic children are, and how they are just as desperately trying to comprehend our world as we are trying to comprehend theirs. Often, they can make you 'see' things you would otherwise take for granted. I've found that these moments are what fuel me to go on, and I sincerely hope they will do the same for you.
About the Author: Two decades ago, Georgia Frederic helped establish our fledgling academic publications office at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix. Her editorial skill was evident then as she helped mold many a manuscript into publishable form. Given her flair with the written word and her nurturing nature, it seems inevitable that her considerable talent would have found expression in children's books. This small volume, however, is not just an idle tale meant to amuse-it represents thoughtful and accessible instruction in important life lessons intended to both console and challenge youngsters in their daily life. My sincerest congratulations on a job well done.
About The Book: Children, during their growing years, experience all kinds of disappointments. They may be required to deal with fear, rejection, anger, sorrow and even death, yet struggle to build and maintain a good self-image. In many families, with both parents working outside the home, children are left to fend for themselves much of the time. Television, play stations, and all the modern toys for children, help create a world in which children can begin to feel isolated and alone. My reason for writing children's books is to foster the idea that there is a God who not only created us but who loves us beyond our understanding. He meets us where we are and loves us no matter what but we must open ourselves to receive that love; we have to unwrap the gift. God passionately wants to have a relationship with each and every one of us. He wants to help us! My hope is to reach children of all religious faiths and those who have no faith at all. Many of them may never go to a church, synagogue, mosque or temple. Yet they are expected to be strong and able to make wise decisions. Billy Horton's experiences may hopefully inspire the reader to grow, not only physically but emotionally and spiritually--to have hope and strength, never dreamed of or thought possible.
About the Author: Johnny was compelled to write "Abuse of Power" because it was such an important story about never giving up, no matter what the circumstances. The story's importance, meaning and relevance to our lives as Americans is significant in these modern times.
Johnny Mack was born and raised in Arizona. He presently lives in Chicago, IL where he is a Chief Pilot for a charter jet company. Johnny and Darla, his wife of 25 years together enjoy mountain biking, running, sailing as well as volunteering for community causes. Johnny and Darla have four children and six grandchildren.
About The Book: February 22 2008
I awoke this morning as federal prisoner number 4563259 in the United States of America federal correctional facility in Florence, Arizona. I am in a small cement room with three beds and two Mexican nationals who don't speak much English as cellmates. I have never been imprisoned before; much less arrested. I am a forty-year-old father of four and grandfather of three beautiful granddaughters. I have a wife to whom I've been married for 23 years. My head is spinning from the last 48 hours and I am thinking, "how in the hell did this happen?"

The book became the genesis for the "Children's Pen Foundation" a non profit educational program founded by Nikos in 2001 to inspire 6th and 7th graders to develop writing skills by composing short stories and poetry with the common theme "What kind of hero does our world need today?"

About The Book: As a writer, my aspiration has always been to share my perspective on what it means to be a human being, in all its complexities. I wanted to tell a story that reflects a comparative importance of political structures, religions and histories of the past. This book represents a lifelong dream of putting into narrative form, my many observations of the brilliance and kindness of the human spirit: people at their worst and people at their best. It is my intention to engage the reader in the process of observing history in both times past and in current day happenings for the sole purpose of gaining greater clarity in the shaping of one's own approach to life and the deepening of individual insight.
In creating this book, it was not my intention to condemn or elevate any particular people, their mannerisms, lifestyle, or religion, but rather to create for you, the reader, an intriguing story that combines dialectics and poetry that together will elicit your own thoughts and feelings, bringing to life new ideas and new understandings.
In reading this book, I hope you will discover how true it is that we all create our own world. Everything visible or invisible is merely a deceptive dream.
Nothing exists unless we create it. We create new forms and then, unfortunately, we seem compelled to demolish them in order to create others. This pattern will continue on into eternity. But there is no doubt that great ideas, morality and religion are needed in all our lives; otherwise society would be a chaotic structure. Still, all must be governed by reason.
We celebrate certain events that have changed the course of history and have shaped social structures, yet there are other events of seemingly less significance that have changed the destiny of millions of individuals, the ones that we never hear about.
Once we come to understand the horrible nature of the unnecessary trials endured by common individuals as a result of the "arrogance of power," we will no longer be able to sustain an apathetic stance. The reality is that even in this 21st century and in many places on this earth today there exists wicked political structures that instigate the unending destructive cycle of those who seek power for personal gain or identity and those who defiantly oppose it.
During the writing of Power and Defiance, I have only doubled my certitude that the law of civilization is to renew itself and to advance. Those who have the irresistible need to grasp and assimilate whatever they can from their surroundings, making it their own, in order to gain power, to rule the world if they can, will never persevere. I am convinced that the pitiless law of power-hungry individuals will eventually and always reach an inevitable downfall.
It is true that arrogance is a sin that the universal harmony does not forgive. However, it is also certain that the common rule is destined to engender the annihilation of this destructive power. In seeking to find answers for the violence and killings that are overwhelming our society today, we seem to want to philosophize, yet we consistently arrive at the same conclusion: the merging of injustice, discrimination and poverty always creates the powerful ammunition for violence.
The primitive need of victimized human beings to rise and demand justice with rifle in hand is well documented throughout history. I believe that unless the so-called civilized world invests in the education of children who live in hopelessness, they too will grow in darkness. The fate of future generations depends on our children who are called upon to create a world of their dreams. They will be the ones who will define triumph and despair for humanity.
And so, I invite you to explore with me the "worst and the best" of humanity, politics and democracy as together we discover along the way, that each of us, left, right, religious, agnostic, activist, reactionary, theorists, conservatives, liberals, civilized, educated, scientists, artists, poor, rich, all of us are searching for the formula of life. A formula that I have no doubt exists.
God, Get Me Out Of This One...! "An Addict's Prayer" A True Story About Addiction and One Man's Journey Back From Hell
byJohn Carter
About the Author: John Carter started working at Terros, Inc. thought the C.E.T.A. program in November of 1974. John worked in the Crisis Unit, working on drug overdoses and other drug related problems. He also worked on the suicide hotline.
In February of 1976 he was asked to come to work at St. Luke's Hospital, where he worked as a Counselor's Aid until he became Certified Alcohol Counselor (ABCAC) in 1977. Since that time John has worked as an administrator on several programs in Phoenix, Arizona.
John has started several programs working with DUI offenders, probation and parole. He is an educator and lecturer teaching about dysfunctional family systems, substance abuse, DUI education, and substance abuse treatment. John is also an interventionist helping families with loved ones needed treatment. John is a licensed Independent Substance Counselor (LISAC) in the state of Arizona where he now resides.
About The Book: My name is John Carter and I have been a substance abuse counselor for the past thirty four years in Phoenix, Arizona. Through the years I've learned a lot about addiction both being an addict myself and having worked with addicts for as many years as I have.
I have watched loved ones suffer along with the addict and have seen many of them become sicker than the addict themselves. Addict's think on several levels and the family can't understand this, so the family takes the addict's addiction personal and as a result the family members develop their own set of problems that need to be understood and worked on in order for this family to heal. Addiction is a family disease and families must get well together.
The purpose of writing this book was to help the addict and their loved ones understand the devastating impact addiction has on everyone. The codependency, enabling the rigid roles, abuse, trusts issues, low self-esteem, relationship issues, and the lack of boundaries the every family member feels.
This book will indeed bring much needed validation and education to those who have suffered with addiction. I know this book can help.

Pop Your Paradigm!
bySandra Anne Daly
About the Author: Sandra Anne Daly is a woman who, after thirty years of abuse, gave herself a gift. That gift was a thought, and that thought was this, "There's got to be a better way for me to live." In her willingness to believe this thought when it came to her, she found the key that would unlock the door that stood between her and the life she had never before dared to imagine could be possible for her. The opening of that door led her to the teachings of Mary Manin Morrissey, and Sandra has been studying and practicing those teachings for ten years now. As a result of this study and practice, Sandra no longer calls herself a Survivor of domestic violence - she now identifies herself as a "Liver of Life" and a powerful exam really can be broken. She uses her amazing story of growth and transformation to help others understand the principles that she learned from Mary Morrissey and effectively used to change her own life.
She is now an author, a poet, a speaker, a workshop creator and presenter, a certified Life Mastery Consultant, wife to a wonderful husband, mother of two beautiful children, and grandmother of amazing young Mikey!
Sandra feels that it is her Purpose in this life to use her own knowledge and experience to be in service to others who have given themselves the gift of that thought, "There's got to be a better way." It is her mission in life "to give people back to themselves."
She and her husband, Rick, live in Arizona.
About The Book: In POP YOUR PARADIGM! You will find the story of Sandra Daly, a woman who, at the age of thirty-five, made the discovery that she did not have to continue to live her life at the mercy of that voice.
The paradigm that she had lived her whole life from had her convinced that she was doomed to be nothing more than a victim of domestic violence. She lived from an ingrained belief that she was ugly, that she was not worthy of being loved or happy, that she was put on this planet to suffer, and that she deserved to be abused. She believed that she would always have more problems than she could ever hope to handle.
POP YOUR PARADIGM! Shows how Sandra changed her whole life by changing her patterns and habits of thought. It shows how she was able to begin catching herself thinking those thoughts that kept her life small and full of pain. As she was able to catch herself in the middle of the 'paradigm' thoughts, she was then able to shift those thoughts to something more positive and life affirming. And as she deliberately focused her thoughts in a positive way, her actions and choices became healthier and happier. As her actions and choices became healthier and happier, her whole life became healthier, happier, more stable, and much, much bigger!
POP YOUR PARADIGM! It is a wonderful, powerful story of triumph, but not of one person over another. No, this is a story of one woman's triumph over the most powerfully controlling thing ever-her subconscious programming, her paradigm.
As you read this book, you will find that this is not just Sandra's story. It is everyone's story. Every person on Earth has paradigms, and every single person on this planet has the ability to neutralize those paradigms if they choose to and if they're willing to make the effort. This book provides a real life example of how it's done, and some incredibly effective tools for doing it.

byBob Eastman
About the Author: This is Bob Eastman's second novel. Mr. Eastman is 83 years old and lives in Tuscon, Arizona.

Most importantly there is the promise of a hereafter when the time comes. Many people feel a need for a strong hand on their shoulder and tremendous inner strength when they seek an answer to the dark little question, "What if I closed my eyes and there was nothing?" Living Medicine
by
Gladys T. McGarey
Dr. Gladys is internationally known for her pioneering work in alternative medicine. A much honored physician with a gentle approach to disease, "it is not killing off a disease, it is seeing the patient as a whole person."
Dr. McGarey believes that the practice of medicine has become a war against disease, a killing machine and rather than building life we destroy it. The premise of this book is that we must change our focus from killing to living. As we support the living process in a person, life itself brings about the healing that person needs. It is not that the therapeutic modalities are wrong it is what our intention is in using them. Our job is to work and support the physician within each of us. Then living medicine becomes our dwelling place.
For more than 60 years Dr. Gladys has practiced and taught a medicine of healing. Here in one book is her profound wisdom about how we get sick and how we get well. Living Medicine is a book for anyone who suffers needlessly. Most people do not recognize the innate power the body has to heal itself; they have not yet learned ways collaborate with their bodies. Rachel Naomi Remen MD
Author, Kitchen Table Wisdom
Living Medicine embraces the essential need of trust, intimacy, and friendship in the doctor/patience relationship and sacredness of caring for the individual as well as the presenting symptoms. In searching for the underlying causes and contributing factors of any imbalance, whether physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual, Dr. McGarey urges the medical professions to rely on the ability of the body to heal itself and to support the natural homeostatic mechanisms at all levels of the imbalance before resulting to synthetic palliative and symptomatic medicine. Alan M. Abromovitz. (H), M.Ac.
Dr. Gladys McGarey has been one of my most cherished mentors. Living Medicine illuminates her loving and much needed approach to healing, health, and life. Living Medicine is beaming with healing wisdom - all illuminated with engrossing stories that will help you heal and remain whole. Christian Northup, MD

Born to Live, The New Edition
byGladys T. McGarey
About the Author: Gladys Taylor McGarey, M.D., M.D. (H), is internationally known for her pioneering work in alternative medicine, natural birthing and the physician-patient partnership. She has practiced medicine for more than 50 years and advocates viewing the patient as a whole being. Through her international lectures and tours, Dr. McGarey teaches a gentle approach to disease, it is not about killing off a disease, it is seeing the patient as a whole person.
About the Book: This is a collection of stories about birth and life in the new age. It is a string of precious beads in which the thread holding them together is one of Dr. McGarey's own interpretive ability and philosophy. As often as possible, she quotes the stories as individuals experiencing the events wrote them for her. The remainder of the tales is from her own experience in delivering babies into the world and taking care of people and their problems in the course of her medical practice.
In this book, with all her wisdom and experience as a Doctor and her compassion and insight as a human being, Dr. Gladys shares her deep awareness that birth is so much more than the biological process our culture often reduces it to. Lindsay Wagner, Actress
McGarey, M.D., is so ahead of her time...that time has not caught up with her YET! We will understand the value of her work in years to come, as science, medicine and wisdom begin to meet each other - through the eyes of newborn babies. Do not underestimate this powerful healer; it was through her efforts that fathers were allowed into delivery rooms in the 1970's. Wendy McChord Ph.D. Co-President of the Association of Pre and Peri-natal Psychology and Health
In the prologue, I state that I do
not consider myself a poet. I think I can say I'm a "versifier"
whose efforts border on some poetic expression sprinkled with a
mixture of doggerel and a healthy dose of poetic license. I take
some solace from the following bit of doggerel.
Written
by a bereaved mother, The Good Grief Club is the true story
of seven women who discover that their new friendships have the
power to heal the pain of losing their babies in miscarriage,
stillbirth, and infant death. One by one, fate weaves their lives
together in the wake of tragedy misunderstood by those around them.
Set around support group meetings and restaurant rendezvous, these
seven soul sisters find a new normal. Through tears
and anger, compassion and laughter, late nights and French toast,
the sun slowly emerges from the darkness bringing with it love,
hope, and healing as, together, they rebuild their lives.
On one hot August Arizona morning of
2000, we said good-bye to our four children and our seven
grandchildren. We had no idea of the adventures and experiences that
would lie ahead of us for the next thirteen months. We had no idea of
the physical and emotional mayhem that South East Asia could bring to
us. We knew only that we wished to challenge the idea that age was a
not a detriment and that we, in our late fifties, could tackle that
most trying events and discoveries we knew only through documentaries
and books.
"Men feel loved when they are admired. Women admire
those who make them feel loved."
"A man hopes that his woman stays as beautiful and
desirable and pleasant as the first time he met her. A woman hopes
that she can change her man into something better than what she found,
the first time she met him."
"A
charming tale of one adventurous life, its upheavals, mysteries,
losses, and loves. What is valuable and what is not? Here we get the
bird's eye view." Karen Joy Fowler, Author of best-selling The Jane
Austin Book Club
Theo is an African Grey parrot who has
the unique ability to tell his own story. He's a channeled combination
of Mark Twain, Dorothy Parker and Gandhi. We follow his adventures
through a colorful cast of keepers landing him in The White House as
The First Bird. Along the way we're treated to his take on the follies
and triumphs of mankind in their pursuit of The Bad Karma Diamond.
Where's the priceless Bad Karma Diamond?
Only Theo, The First Bird, knows and he'll tell the whole story to
anyone who'll listen. But can a parrot really talk? And just how could
a parrot write a book in the first place?
These and deeper questions are answered
as we follow the life of an African Grey Parrot and his keepers from a
pre-World War Two gardener in San Diego to the halls of the present
day White House. During the search for the diamond we learn what Theo
has to say about mankind, from our worst sins to our most shining
attributes.
Develop People, Not Just Skills and Concepts. The first
thing we have to do to improve our performance is improve our self
perception; to examine who we are and what holds us back. This
book was written for the sole purpose of helping us meet our full
potential. Communicating With VALUES is perfect for individuals

improve communication. Filled with examples from everyday life,

Words are Magic! They can be used to
awaken as well as instruct. The inquiring mind can reason only that
which the heart has prepared it to do. The words in this book are
intended to awaken, through the heart, an awareness of human
divinity so that once acted upon intelligently, a spiritual healing
may result. The messages within these letters hold the promise of
personal transformation and the opportunity to change the world
around us one person at a time.
This book is a bridge. It is a
bridge of light. It is a bridge of love. It is a bridge between
the physical and non-physical experience, between the human and
the spiritual experience. It is a healing bridge between the mind
and the heart, and the heart and the soul. Radiant Heart Therapy
teaches people a simple method to experience the energy of love in
the heart chakra. The Radiant Heart invites you to open yourself
to the healing power of divine love. Dr. Sharon Wendt's "The
Radiant Heart - Healing The Heart, Healing The Soul", shows the
reader that what a person is feeling is reflected in that person's
aura. Dr. Wendt shows examples of how energies associated with how
feelings show up, not only in a person's aura, but also in the
words a person would use to describe feelings such as "My heart
burst with joy" or "The grief was so intense it tore my heart
out".
Through her personal

Smith played the games many boys do- baseball, basketball and

he grew, so did his skill on the playing fields and his true passion
for sport. By the time Ed neared the end of his high school career,
the unbelievable task of deciding his entire future at the age of 17,
weighed heavily on his shoulders. Which sport, baseball or football,
and at what level, collegiate or professional, would be the next stage
he performed on?

childhood memories and a journey is begun to discover the truth

With all the chaos on the world today, how can we possibly hope for
peace? Moved to action by the events of 9-11-01 and America's
subsequent war on terrorism, Ray Madaghiele bicycled 3,369 miles in 70
days from Phoenix, Arizona, to Ground Zero, New York City, to share an
inspiring message along the way and honor all the heroes who
demonstrated such compassion and exemplary character in the aftermath
of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
"I love kids!! I
have always been fascinated with their behavior. When my own son
was born, I knew exactly what I wanted - - to create an environment
for him to learn to control his own behavior, become responsible and
have a positive image of himself, and at the same time be my best
friend."
In addition to the great
joys of tour leading, Robert Globerman, tongue and cheek, tells of the
problems of bus breakdowns, terrible toilets, chaos in airports,
flight mishaps, the things that can go wrong in a foreign country, and
the various types of people who took his trips, some of whom should
have stayed home.
In
March of 2001, my husband of 55 years died after suffering from
Alzheimer's for ten agonizing years. Never in my fantasy of "
living happily ever after" did I picture myself strolling down the
grocery aisle debating whether my spouse would prefer Depends or
Mickey Mouse on the crotch or just plain Pull-Ups. It's as if
step-by-step the Alzheimer's patient is tiptoeing back to
childhood.

"I put this book together
because I know that it can help you. I want to share with you my
knowledge of secrets that have been used for hundreds of years by
successful people in all walks of life. I hope that you dedicate
your life to the lessons learned in this book, because I know...It
Works."
After
scoffing at attempts by astrologers, prophets, oracles, and assorted
psychics to make predictions, the author describes how the "age of
reason", starting in the seventeenth century, led to a scientific
basis for new developments. The role of science fiction as a
precursor of major advances is discussed.
Important
achievements of the past two centuries based on science are reviewed,
including the germ theory of disease, radio and television, aviation
and space travel, nuclear energy, electronic computers, and weather
prediction. The author reviews predictions based on statistics
and extrapolation of trends and reviews various attempts, mostly
unsuccessful, to do economic forecasting, and presents reasons for
failure.
The
principal section of the book is a careful look into important aspects
of the future, including: intelligent life in the universe, population
explosion, global warming, depletion of petroleum reserves, fusion
reactors, intelligent robots, genetic modification of humans,
hydrogen-fueled auto, discovery of new materials, biotechnology and
nanotechnology.
The final
section is a discussion of the creative process, with speculation on
the nature of genius. The book is written in a style accessible
to non-specialists, but some appendices are provided for readers with
technical training.
Stanislaw is a fascinating book about Graham Fitch and his connection
to the Seattle's Pike Place Market. Graham Fitch is a third
generation Washington lawyer that joined his fathers firm in 1962.
Graham Fitch's was a lawyer that began representing Stanislaw in the
1920's. When Graham Fitch's grandfather became a U.S. court
Commissioner for the state of Washington, he turned over the
representation of Stanislaw to Graham Fitch's Father. When Graham
Fitch joined the firm in 1962, he took over the legal interests of
Stanislaw.
The Heroes of My Thoughts is an esoteric view of the
author on the effects of the parent/child relationship. It is about heroes
that change our lives and inspire us to be the best that we can be. This
is an important book to help construct and strengthen healthy relationships
within the family, as well as to understand the problematic behaviors
of the young when they have been denied the true love of their parents.
Most importantly, this book strongly emphasizes that child abuse has no
place in our society.
During World War II a bomber crew was shot down in enemy territory.
The crewmembers made a heroic run for freedom that spanned over 700 miles and 34 days.
It was a run that bonded them in life and death.
This crew of brave Americans endured the steep mountains of Yugoslavia and the harrowing German occupied valleys while a vicious storm of guerilla warfare, political maneuvering, and ethnic cleansing raged around them.
Some of the crewmembers were able to survive this adventurous journey. Others did not. William Kollar was one of the lucky ones who lived to tell his story, a story that recounts human tragedy and captures the triumph of the human spirit.
Songs For My Father is an anthology of poems, short stories, essays, and plays. The material is arranged to reflect the basic periods of life: childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and seniority. It amusingly follows Kenneth Weene through his life as a child, adolescent, into early adulthood and on to being a father and finally a grandfather. Each genre of work reaches out to touch those looking back on their lives, while lacing history interestingly throughout. It not only is for those looking back, but, with effective poetry and humor, gives those just starting the adult lifecycle, foresight into what may lay ahead.

This book is a collection of real life stories about birth and
life in the New Age. It is a string of precious beads in which the thread
holding them together is woven of my own interpretive abilities and my
philosophy.
As often as possible, I have quoted the stories as they were written for
me by the individuals experiencing the events. Other stories are in my
own words, as nearly as I could remember them as they were told to me.
And the remainder of the tales told are from my own experience in the
area of delivering babies into the world and taking care of people and
their problems in the course of my practice of medicine. My Interpretation
of the meaning of all these life experiences is just that.
This
book tells the real stories of real people, their living experiences as
they have enriched my life and as I have influenced theirs.
This book is for all people, physicians and patients alike. There is no
physician who, at one time or another, will not be a patient and each of
us has within us that divine spark which we have chosen to call "the
physician within."
Vision from the
Soul is the expression of the Dr. Maurie Pressman's life long quest to find
emotional and spiritual authenticity within himself, and in his patients.
With extensive citations from spiritual teachers and pioneers in transpersonal
psychology, we are given a lofty vision of the soul-spiritual essence of
the human being. Yet, this work is much more than a theoretical blending
of Western psychotherapy and Eastern Metaphysics. Through compelling case
studies and personal narrative, the reader enters into the very experience
of spiritual psychotherapy as a personal path of transformation.
Although this entertaining book includes interviews with
professional golfers like Tiger Woods, Sergio Garcia, Payne Stewart,
Annika Sorenstam, and Jim Furyk, and real-life anecdotes from the links,
it's wisdom is not just for golfers; it is for anyone who wants to learn
simple ways to improve their physical, mental and spiritual abilities
in any area of life. Yes, "A Trust Walk" can help you improve
your golf game, but it can also help you in your career, relationships
and performance in any sport.

God
is always talking to us, and no matter who we are, where we are, what
we've done or not done, we cannot be separated from Him. These are only
two of the meaningful revelations Tony Arnold shares with us in this remarkable
book.
In the depths of despair,
Tony called out to God and said, "Either take me or use me now."
His marriage was over, he had no job, and no way to provide for his adored
baby daughter. God answered his prayer, but not in a way that Tony expected.
That night he awoke near midnight with the unexplainable urge to write.
"What am I supposed to write?" he asked. "Write down what
I tell you," came the answer.

16 Days With Jim
byVictoria R. Allies
This is the story of an extraordinary and courageous man who showed us that cancer could not kill his spirit. During his last sixteen days, he entertained us with humor, song and stories. He shared life's true meaning and purpose with our family and friends just as he had done throughout his lifetime. His wit and heart touched people he met around the world. He mentored and encouraged, he led and he changed people by his words or his actions. His legacy is his message: "Death is not an ending, but a new beginning".
Everyone, at some time, will be touched by the death of a loved one. This is the story of my experience, of Jim's journey, our relationship and our enduring love. His revelations of the other side and insights into the true meaning of life give us strength and hope to overcome disease and death.
D.J. Diebold's book, Thru Charlotte's Eyes, is a humorous and inspirational autobiographical family saga with ferocious warmth geared to dispel the illusion of separation that affects our society and collective psyche.
Terrorists launch
the worst attack on the United States in history. Now you can understand
why. THE MAD MESSIAH examines the life and background of Osama bin Laden
and explores the conspiracy, history and passions that led to the events
of September 11.
Author/Journalist Mantosh Singh-Devji's startling new book reveals the
mysteries of bin Laden's background, examines the cultural differences

This
unique story cookbook reveals every recipe created by legendary chef Nikos
Ligidakis. It is a collection of over 500 original recipes in a motivational
story about the personal failures and accomplishments of a man who used
his imagination and courage to make his dream a reality. The recipes in
this book are written in an easy to follow form. This inspirational book
will encourage readers to create original recipes.
Most of my recipes are
surprisingly easy to prepare. The recipes require organization and also
paying attention to the basics. The imagination to create will follow naturally
once you have mastered the basic recipes. Like all professional chefs, I
am used to working with larger quantities of cakes, creams and dough's that
are prepared to be used for several desserts. Do not be afraid to make a
larger quantity of the basic cakes, dough's or fillings. It takes no longer
to make a larger amount and the left over cake or dough can be transformed
to make a variety of easy desserts. The leftovers usually become an inspiration
for creating new tastes.
