About the Author: Valerie Albrecht shares yoga, yoga birthing, massage therapy, hypnotherapy, speech pathology & writing from her home in the rolling green hills of Northern New South Wales, Australia. She has a Bachelor of Speech and Hearing Pathology, with a double major in psychology. This book Search For Mother completes her Masters Degree in Art, majoring in writing.

In her role as Yoga and Massage Educator for North Coast Area Health, New South Wales Australia, between the years 2002-2007, Valerie introduced Yoga Birthing and Natural Therapies in maternity hospitals and conducted Moving into Motherhood Retreats for women and their partners in many locations on the east coast of Australia. She has taught yoga in Portugal, India and America, worked with obstetricians in rural Rajasthan, India, and trained pre-natal yoga teachers in India. Valerie presented for Birth India at their 2008 international conference for Indian Caesarian Awareness Week, and presented and read from Search For Mother to the Algarve Cultural Society Portugal in July 08. Her story, work, passions and inspirations became Search For Mother. Valerie is also a commissioned biographer.

About The Book: Search For Mother is shared with a generosity of spirit which evocatively tells of Valerie's deep heart longing to connect with the who and why of mother: the mother we have, the mother we long for, the mother we become, and the mother we long to be, and to unravel the divine orchestration of mother-daughter relationship. From this longing, and through the opportunities she's had to share yoga birthing with women around the world, Valerie began to write Search For Mother. It is written in three trimesters interweaving poetry, prose, storytelling, interview and yoga practice. "Search for Mother" offers women ways to come to peace and acceptance toward their mother and toward becoming mother, while also offering birthing practitioners and health organizations ways to support and assist women in their emotional and spiritual metamorphism into mother.
